Hi :)
I’m Ishita.
(pronounced ih-she-tah)
I grew up around parents who clicked a lot of photographs of our family.
Occasion or no occasion, a camera was always brought out and subsequently
our cupboards were always overflowing with albums of pictures
to remember every moment by.
I don’t think I appreciated just how special this was when I was younger.
Today, years later, when our family is living in different parts of the world,
I see the inestimable value of these photographs.
Visiting home always means spending hours pouring over these albums together
and reliving the shared joy of those memories.
I can see the way it warms my parents’ hearts to have these memories safeguarded.
As their child, I flip through those film camera prints and feel so loved and cherished.
I realised I wanted every family to have this;
to be able to preserve their moments of tenderness in this crazy world.
That’s how The Blue Firefly came about.
In a world where taking pictures is so simple, The Blue Firefly aims to create images
that represent your family’s big feelings, big emotions best;
images that will become part of your family’s legacy for years to come.
It would be an honour and privilege to photograph your family.
Ishita is a photographer living and working in Canberra, Australia.
The Blue Firefly began as a passion project, articulating her innate allurement for people and the power of their connections to each other; and a deep longing for preservation of the fleeting. Her work aims to invoke a sense of nostalgia, a sense of gratitude, a sense of contentment.
She formally studied film and photography, and is also a trained pastry chef.
